Apparent first printing of this 1910 edition with the Pape illustrations. 315 pp., colour frontis plus 11 colour plates in text, endpapers decorated with JMD monogram, oversized format in pale green linen with extravagent gilt and coloured decorations to spine and front board. A firmly bound copy with no significant flaws. Neat owner marks on ffep, modest wear to cloth at tips, spine a bit faded but titles still legible. An above-average copy for its age.
Synopsis
The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan and published in February, 1678. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature, has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.
