About This Item
New York: Gnome Press, 1954. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Ed Emshwiller. First USA hardback edition first printing. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards clean, with softened corners and light crease to cloth of upper board. Text block clean, with age toning to edges. The pages on the whole crisp and unblemished, with a feint mark to the first page. The paste downs have a hint of offset toning. Previous booksellers neat pencil price to FEP. Feels carefully read, and tight. Spine ends have bumping. Very good condition. Jacket is glossy with bold colours. There is some very light rubbing to the edges and corners, and very gentle colour break crimping to spine ends. The front panel has 7mm closed tear to the top edge, and a 4mm split to bottom foreedge corner. There is also a gentle rub to the title on spine. To the jacket verso there are some feint spots. Rear white panel has grubbiness, and light creasing. Overall a very good and presentable copy. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. More images of this book are available please contact us if you require them. This copy is presented in the variant B and less common black boards with red titles, Currey states no priority, other sources state that this binding is slightly later. A very pleasing and tidy copy of this first edition Clarke title.
