Cleveland, Ohio: The World Syndicate Publishing Company, c. 1930. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good/good. 246 pages, illustrated with black and white drawings. Hawthorne's lovely collection of myths. Red cloth binding with black border on front cover and black titles on front cover and spine. Light edge wear, titles and color bright with a little darkening at edges, minor spotting of back cover, corners and spine ends a little bumped, interior pages tanned, binding tight. Green dust jacket illustrated with Pegasus in colors and blue titles on front cover and spine, publisher advertising on back and inside folds. Some chipping along edges, short tears at spine top and bottom and bottom folds, small hole in back fold, spotting, short tears along back bottom edge, colors bright, clipped corners.

Synopsis

Tanglewood Tales for Boys and Girls , published in1853, is a book by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne, a sequel to A Wonder-Book for Girls and Boys. It is a re-writing of well-known Greek myths in a volume for children. The book includes the myths of: Theseus and the Minotaur (Chapter : "The Minotaur") Antaeus and the Pygmies (Chapter: "The Pygmies") Dragon's Teeth (Chapter: "The Dragon's Teeth") Circe's Palace (Chapter: "Circe's Palace") Proserpina, Ceres, Pluto, and the Pomegranate Seed (Chapter: "The Pomegranate Seed") Jason and the Golden Fleece (Chapter: "The Golden Fleece")
