No frontispiece or any other photos appear in this edition. 5 7/8 X 8 ½. 154 pages. "Thais is a 1917 American silent drama film produced by Samuel Goldwyn, and based on the 1890 novel "Thais" by Anatole France, a story of forbidden love. This film featured opera prima donna Mary Garden, making her film debut at the then-lavish salary of $15,000. Other cast members include Lionel Adams, Crauford Kent, and Charles Trowbridge." Summary: "Here is the Thais of Anatole France. It is a strange story – a harlot sanctified and a man of God throwing aside his faith, his salvation and his nobility for her love."
