Hartford, Connecticut: American Publishing Company. Good with No Dust Jacket as issued. 1880. First Edition. Hard Cover. 631 pages: 6 x 9 in.: 3: KB#005708: No Jacket as Issued. Bound in green cloth with gilt lettering and stamped emblem on front and spine. Edges of boards are worn. Page block is starting to separate from spine at front and back endpapers. Front flyleaf has stamped prior owner's name, and first four pages are complete but have separated from binding. Has frontispiece labled Titian's Moses with tissue intact, as well as engraved portrait of Twain with facsimile signature. Pages 19 & 20 have been previously repaired (short cut) with white tape. All pages (except ones indicated) are intact, clean, unmarked, tightly bound, and sharp cornered. Has ad for The Innocents Abroad at rear, with 328 illustrations throughout. Is NOT ex-library copy. "In A Tramp Abroad, Mark Twain's unofficial sequel to The Innocents Abroad, the author records his hilarious and diverse observations and insights while on a fifteen-month walking trip through Central Europe and the Alps." .

Synopsis

A Tramp Abroad is a work of non-fiction travel literature by American author Mark Twain, published in 1880. The book details a journey by the author, with his friend Harris (a character created for the book, and based on his closest friend, Joseph Twichell), through central and southern Europe. While the stated goal of the journey is to walk most of the way, the men find themselves using other forms of transport as they traverse the continent.
