A dampstain with a tidemark affects all of the pages and the front cover, involving the lower right corner of the book. This is a study of the diseases affecting the French Army under Napoleon I, and the Russian Army in 1812. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 82 pages .

Pre-publication promotional copy with pink frontispiece cover describing endorsements from Samual Gompers, President, American Federation of Labor and Eugene V. Debs, President, American Railway Union (included). The promotional copy contains 32 full page b/w photographs (mostly by A. R. Keller) or b/w sketch drawings that would appear in the published final book. 56 pp. Text is lightly yellowed typical of the pulp paper used in the printing. Leaves are clean and unmarked. There is evidence that a page 57 may have existed, but it has been torn from this copy and is missing.
