Preface and introduction by author, glossary, botanical index, popular name index and acknowledgements. Green coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with numerous colour photograph. Green coloured boards with gilt coloured embossed titles to the top edge of the front panel and to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with green and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The book gives the botanical name, phonetic pronunciation, and common name as well as a description of each plant and its best position. The rear part of the book includes a very extensive glossary and botanical index. The trees in the book are ranked enough because of their botanical names  names which are used in recognised throughout the world. However if you don't know the botanical name, or what the 3 looks like, turned to the popular name index at the back, where you will find the more common English names listed, also alphabetically with cross-referenced to the correct botanical name. Within many dictionary entries, you will find reference to some of the most popular species of the genus in cultivation. Minor rubbing of the back strip corners and book corners.
