[ New York]: Harper & Row, 1964. Oblong small quarto. Pictorial cloth (the library binding). Illustrated throughout in color. Some dustsoiling along the extreme edges of the binding and fold-ins, otherwise a good copy in torn and mended later dust jacket with reviews on the front flap and the Caldecott seal (the library binding price $3.79 is intact). Briefly, but pleasantly inscribed and signed by the author on the half-title. Assuredly a later printing of the dust jacket, and most likely of the book itself, with the "Harper Crest Library Edition" denotation on the lower cover and the gilt label across the spine.

We have 377 copies available starting at $1.50.

1914 1ed Butterfly Babies Book Gordon Ross Children Literature Color Illustrated

M.T. Ross, "Penny", was a popular artist and cartoonist in the early 1900s whose works include "The Flower Babies Book", "The Flower Children", "Butterfly Babies", "Bird Children", "Animal Children" and others. He was also the originator of the extremely popular comic strip "Mamma's Angel Child" for the Chicago Tribune and worked with Walt Disney before he made his own company.
Elizabeth Gordon was a fantasy author and poet. Her book 'Butterfly Babies' Book' is a short children's fantasy collection of poems that anthropomorphize butterflies giving them names and stories while giving information through poetry on the trees and flowers they eat and take shelter from. The book ends with an area for the reader to notate when they see butterflies and what butterflies they see.
This charming children's book of poems contains color illustrations from Ross on each page of each butterfly including on the cover boards!

1860 FAIRY TALES Charles Perrault Illustrated Cinderella French Riding Hood RARE

"A dream is a wish your heart makes."
― Charles Perrault, Cinderella

Charles Perrault was a 17th-century French author who is most-remembered for his fairy tales. When "Les Contes" was first written it was quite ahead of its time, and his writing helped lay the groundwork for a new literary genre that would become very popular throughout Europe of the next century. Many of his fairy tales include stories that are still popular today such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Thumbelina, and Sleeping Beauty.

This printing is a fine, 19th-century printing that includes charming illustrations and a decorative front cover.

Description:
1886 1ed Jack and the Beanstalk Tennyson Caldecott Illustrated Fairy Tales Kids

A rare first edition of the final work by esteemed 19th-century illustrator, Randolph Caldecott, 'Jack and the Bean-Stalk.' This delightful pictorial retelling of the famous English fairy tale was written by Hallam Tennyson and published in 1886. Nearly complete Caldecott would pass before completing his work for this book. Despite being unfinished, in memoriam for Caldecott, the publisher elected to utilize his 30 charming sketches in their "incomplete" state. A timeless tale accompanied by timeless art. A must-own for any collector of children's tales.
