New York: Random House, 1946. Accounts of wartime O.S.S. (Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of the CIA) operations; the two authors were officers in the organization, Ford being a well-known humorist before the war and later a sports & outdoors columnist. There was a movie also released in 1946 inspired by the book, starring Gary Cooper & Lilli Palmer; both book & movie were intended as a tribute to the "super-secret" agency, whose exploits were unknown to the public during the war. Jacket art by notable Italian/American designer George Giusti. Small hardcover in jacket, as pictured: stated "first printing" (first edition). Light wear to book with some smudges, some spine gilt flaked off; pages lightly tanned; jacket edgeworn & chipped with short tears, stains from evil tape mends - the tape has been removed, but the stains are permanent. Text clean; vii, blank, 216 pages. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Small Octavo.
