Provenance: Bookplate of B. Haigh Allen to fep. Signature of Bn. Haigh to title. Yorkshire financier, Benjamin Haigh Allen (1792-1829) was a personal friend of William Wilberforce and campaigner for abolition.
Barrett, Eaton Stannard (1786–1820) poet, satirist. 'All the talents' is a political satire of the Whig coalition. Published parts, the later 'editions' were augmented by further dialogues. This is the first edition of the complete work.

Curzon, George Nathaniel, Marquess Curzon of Kedleston (1859–1925), politician, traveller, and viceroy of India. At the time of writing, he was Foreign Secretary. In January 1924, Curzon vacated the Foreign Office and he was able to devote much of 1924 to completing one of his finest books, a study of Calcutta and the viceroys which was posthumously published under the title British Government in India; the work mentioned in this letter.

Regarding the Yugoslav Aid Committee, mentioning the Duchess of Atholl, Moore's son-in-law James Harrower and Moore's daughter Priscilla. Short fold split to edge.
Leslie Hore-Belisha, 1st Baron Hore-Belisha Liberal MP, Cabinet Minister, Secretary of State for War, dismissed in 1940, revealing widespread anti-Semitism in government. Oswald Mosely calling him a "Jewish Warmonger", Henry Pownall called him a "political jewboy". H.G. Wells named him in "The Shape of Things to Come" 1934 – prophetically it turned out. The first work by Price, Richard (1723 - 1791) FRS, philosopher, demographer, and political radical. He studied under Vavasor Griffiths at Chancefield, Talgarth. His writings in defence of the American patriots led to an invitation to advise congress conveyed to him by Benjamin Franklin, Arthur Lee, and John Adams. A member of the intellectual societies the Bowood Group and Benjamin Franklin's 'Club of Honest Whigs'. The journal Enlightenment and Dissent remains a focus for the study of Price's thought.
