About This Item

Hollywood: Paramount Pictures, 1931. First White script for the 1931 Pre-Code film. An early starring performance for Carole Lombard, made prior to her 1934 star breakthrough in Howard Hawks' "Twentieth Century." Included is a studio still photograph of Lombard and Lilyan Tashman from the film, with the unusual feature of having an associated quote from the scene added to the negative at the bottom margin.

In this romance, an aspiring writer encounters a wealthy publisher who gives him an advance on the first two chapters of his book. Meanwhile, his wife helps out by becoming a chorus girl in a nightclub revue.

Tall white studio self wrappers, noted as TALL WHITE SCRIPT on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped production No. 1794, dated February 24th, 1931, with credits for playwrights Hackett and Goodrich, screenwriters Kober and Unsell, director Sutherland, and producer Sheldon. 146 leaves, mimeograph duplication, with blue revision pages throughout, dated 2-25-31. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, side stapled.
