Limited edition of 50 copies, this being # 35, signed by author on limitation page. Condition of the book is FAIR; 90% of cloth on spine is missing, hinges cracked, covers worn. However, text & illustrations are very clean--no foxing etc., Illustrative plates in pouch inside front cover are clean & complete. Scarce in any condition. RGR

Half leather binding, dark green cloth backed with dark green leather spine. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD; Raised bands on spine rubbed, previous owner's name on endpaper, light foxing on the first few pages, gilt edge of text block still very bright, binding is tight. Paris: Didier & Cie., 1881. Septieme (seventh) edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 600 pages. Quarter leather binding, red & black boards backed with brown calf. Gilt lettering & decoration on spine. Contains two albumen prints; one is the frontispiece by J.M Rutherford, of the moon 3/4 full. The other is at page 336 by J. Nasmith of the Apennins Chain of craters, including Archimedes Crater. Also contains all 6 fold-out diagrams & numerous black & white illustrations throughout the text. Condition of the book is VERY GOOD; Occasional foxing throughout, not affecting the photographs of diagrams. Binding is tight. Text in French.

Chicago: Jensen, McClurg & Co., 1882. Hardcover. Very Good. 253 pages. Signed at the top of title page by Edward Coles; 'Mrs. Ogden with complements of Edward Coles August, 1884'. With 6 fold-out facsimile letters. Brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine. Tissue-protected frontispiece engraved portrait of Coles. Condition of book is VERY GOOD; Wear to top & bottom of spine, corners bumped, front hinge starting to crack, text & facsimile letters are very clean, no foxing etc. anywhere in the book.

New York & London: Macmillan/ William Heinemann, 1900. First English language edition. Hardcover. Very Good. xiv + 198 pages. 9 1/2 X 12 1/2 in. high. Red buckram with black lettering & decoration on spine & cover. With 14 tissue-protected photogravure plates and numerous text illustrations. Condition of book is VERY GOOD; An abrasion of 1 in. in length, at the base of the fore edge of the rear cover, where the cloth & board are worn away 1/8 in., endpapers & frontispiece are lightly foxed, text & the other illustrations & plates are very clean, binding is tight.

New York: E. P. Dutton and Co., 1902. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. xxvi, plus 500 pages. 6 x 9 in. Green cloth with pictoral cover, with gilt lettering on spine. Numerous illustrations. Condition is VERY GOOD, with darkening to spine, some wear and slight bending to ends of spine. Top text edge is gilt. Large owner’s bookplate on front paste-down. A very tight, clean copy.

London (Londini): Fletcher Gyles, 1735. Hardcover. Good. 97 pages. 8 x 12 1/2 in. high. Full calf binding with leather label on spine. Condition of the book is GOOD; Leather label has fallen off, covers scuffed, front cover detached, bookplate removed from front paste-down, small amount of old wormholes on end papers does not affect text. Previous owner's name (David B. Ogden) on ffep. Light foxing, & yellowing throughout, does not affect legibility.

Each volume 5 1/2 x 8 in. high. Full calf binding with leather labels on spine. Condition of the books is GOOD; Leather labels on vols. I & III have fallen off, but are included, covers scuffed and slightly warped, front cover of vol. III detached, small amount of old wormholes on end papers of vols. I & III, does not affect text. Previous owner's name (David B. Ogden) stamped on front covers & end papers. Light foxing, water stains & yellowing throughout, does not affect legibility.

Condition of the book is VERY GOOD; Front hinge starting to crack, small booksellers stamp on front paste-down (Kirby & Co. Booksellers, 633 Broadway, New York), small label on rear paste-down ( Bound by Kirby & Co. Kirby St. E.C.), inscription dated 1869 on back of ffep, one small marginal note in pencil, otherwise text is very clean.

London: John Leigh, 1672. Third edition. Hardcover. Good +. 756 pages. 8 x 12 1/2 in. Several full page and many small illustrations. Black half calf binding with marbled boards, gilt lettering on spine, five raised bands, edges of text block tinted yellow. Condition of the book is GOOD+: wear to spine and covers esp. corners, spine is missing a corner, split in half and is almost detached, hinges cracked, covers separated but still attached, corners bent, some nicks to leather, boards worn.. Top edge of text block slightly darkened, light foxing on edges of text, pages very clean, illustrations clean.

London: Chatto & Windus, 1877. Hardcover. Very Good. Vol. 1- xvi + 433 pages. Vol. 2- xii + 447 pages. Vol. 3- xiv + 462 pages. Vol. 4- xviii + 476 pages. 6 x 8 1/4 in. Tan half calf binding on spine and corners with marbled boards, gilt lettering on spines, edges of text block and end papers marbled. Condition of each volume is VERY GOOD: wear to covers and spines heavier at corners, marbled boards lightly worn, top edge of text block darkened, pages very lightly yellowed towards edges, binding tight, each volume with a book plate of David B. Ogden- Vol. 4- with two. Vol.1- heavier wear to corners esp. bottom front corner, nick to top edge of text block. Vol. 2- front top corner a bit more worn. Vol. 4- spine missing 1/2 of leather label reading "Taine", front top corner a bit more worn.

Red blindstamped cloth boards with gilt lettering and gent on horseback on cover, gilt lettering on spine. 6 color plates, including frontis, all present. Origanl cloth binding. Hand-colored engravings by John Leech. Condition of book is GOOD+ ; corners and edges worn, covers and spine faded, old repair to upper spine, both upper and lower spine missing some cloth, but overall a very nice copy of this scarce, delightful book, in original cloth. Binding is solid and text clean, with some faint browning and some very mild foxing to plates. Earlier owner's bookplate on front pastedown. Sport. RGR.

Condition of book is VERY GOOD ; corners not bumped, edges very slightly worn. Ends of spine have more wear, with slight bumping and some very minor wear to the cloth itself, resulting in two tiny holes at lower end, and a slightly larger area at top of spine with a tiny tear. Covers are very clean, with upper areas very slightly faded, as is spine as well. Gilt lettering on spine is nice and clear, and the book is very straight and solid, the binding tight. edges of text block and endpapers have some very minor foxing, text and illus are very clean. Publisher's 22 pp catalog dated December 1864. List of Thoreau's books with prices facing the title pg. Blindstamped wreaths on covers with borders. Gilt spine titles with "Author of Walden...." Brown coated endpapers. Condition is NEAR FINE ; covers extremely clean and bright, spine not sunned. Minimal wear to corners, spine ends have some tiny worn spots, spine head has a tiny clean tear. Binding tight. Text extremely bright, clean and unmarked. Bookplate of an earlier collector on front pastedown, printed with a scene of a woman on a porch, a book on her lap and sailboats in the distance. BAL 20115. Phil. Rare. RGR.

Inscribed by Lofting on the half title pg, in black ink, dated 1921, Westport. Condition of book is GOOD ; both hinges are started, with muslin exposed but holding. Covers have wear and some surface loss to the blue. Corners and spine ends worn. Small tear ar rear spine head. PO's small stamp on front pastedown, Gift inscription on 2nd blank endpaper. 14 pgs of early text have some mild spots. Chil. RGR.
