The set includes eighteen issues of Avon Fantasy Reader, two issues of Avon Science Fiction and Fantasy Reader and three issues of the Avon Science Fiction Reader. These constitute the complete output of the fantasy and science fiction series edited by Donald A. Wollheim and published in the years from 1947 to 1953. Most of the stories appearing in Avon Fantasy Reader, with very few exceptions, were reprints, whereas the other two short-lived titles published original material. Among the contributors are Murray Leinster, William H. Hodgson, August Derleth, Abraham Merritt, H. P. Lovecraft, P. Schuyler Miller, Clark Ashton Smith, Fletcher Pratt, H. G. Wells, Arthur C. Clarke, Jack Vance, Jack Williamson, Ray Cummings, Hannes Bok, Robert Bloch, Algernon Blackwood, Ray Bradbury and many others. Garden City, NY: The Crime Club / Doubleday, 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Black cloth lettered in red on the front panel and the spine panel. Spine ends are worn, front flap of dustjacket pasted on the front free endpaper, inscription dated 1929 also on the endpaper. Still a nice copy that has been married to the rare dustjacket. The dustjacket is in fine condition with only a very short tear along the edge of the rear flap. Lovely period cover art by Ernest Walker. An outstanding copy of this scarce book.; Octavo.

Garden City, NY: Crime Club/Doubleday, 1939. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1st ed. 1939. Minor slant to spine, wear to extremities, tape ghosts on paste down endpapers. A very good copy lacking dustjacket. Professor Theocritus Lucius Westborough investigates the murder of a well-to-do Chicago businessman and collector of ancient weapons. A copy of a hard-to-find title that still presents nicely. ; Octavo.

The plates measure 47x47 cm (16.5x16.5"). Condition is near fine. Some plates have light wear to lower corners not affecting image area. Derby, CT: Capitol Stories, Inc, 1952. First Edition. Printed wrappers. The only issues of this short-lived magazine. Both issues have faint stress lines along the spines and pages moderately age-toned. Include stories by Gibson and others. Art by Lou Morales, Dick Giordano, Frank Frollo, Stan Campbell and Al Tyler. A well preserved set with bright covers.

A revised and somewhat censored edition of the Decameron by the Florentine nobleman Leonardo Salviati, who was among the founders of the Accademia della Crusca, originally published in Firenze in 1582. With the bookplate of binders Fletcher and Maude Battershall on the front pastedown endpaper and Fletcher Battershall's signature on front free endpaper. Wear to corner tips, front joint partially split at spine. A very good copy. ; Quarto.
