Condition: Very Good. Full calf. Small stain to front of textblock, but it does not soak through to pages. Slight edgewear to upper front board. Toning to inside boards and endpapers. Some light foxing, particularly on the title page. A collected edition of the poems of William Drummond of Hawthornden (1585-1649), which opens with a short account of his life and writings. 12mo

Very Good with no dust jacket; Pages toned but very clean and bright, boards lightly worn.. nd, Later Edition. Hardcover. Volumes I and II bound together, along with A Political Romance, Addressed to _______ ______, Esq; of York, no publisher, place of publication, or date noted. Printed on laid paper with lots of "f's" for "s's", so appears a late 18th- early 19th century imprint. Rebound in dark green buckram with title stamped in gilt on spine. Top edges gilt. Sabin 91342 notes that this title was originally anonymously published in London in 1770 as the work of a recently deceased literary genius, widely thought to be Laurence Sterne, but later found out to be a literary hoax and the handiwork of Robert Griffith. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 227 pages .

The Spectator was a two or three page paper written by Addison and Steele that was published from 1711-1712 in London, England. Eight bound volumes of The Spectator were published in later runs, each volume containing about 200 daily editions.
Boards are rubbed, scuffed and soiled and most of the gilt spine titles and red band backgrounds have faded. Corners are bumped. Volume two's rear board and volume eight's front board have seperated from the spine but have a very clean break and could be reattached with some basic rebinding. Raised spine ribs. Endpapers and title pages show minor browning with age, but all other pages are clean and bright for their age. Indexes at the rear of the texts.

With 74 Cuts, Designed and Engraved on wood by I. [John] Bewick. One of the most successful compilations for children produced in the period, with several editions. This one further enhanced by the charming engravings and vignettes of John Bewick, younger brother of Thomas. pp. (8), 271. 12mo, 7" x 4-1/2". Bound in full polished calf, neatly rebacked, corners strengthened. The tp has a series of very small cuts along part of its top edge with a lesser number to the following leaf. Faint traces of childish doodles to front endpapers, a touch of browning to prelims, else a firm, tight copy, pages clean and crisp and in very good condition.
