Hutchinson & Co. London.,Circa 1930. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. Erratum slip after title page. Book not dated and only 4 copies listed on Copac. British Library gives no date.Oxford and Trinity, Dublin date it as 1930. National Library of Scotland dates it to 1929, the year of the original French edition. The adverts on the back of the dustwrapper list New Hutchinson titles that were not published until 1930 so I would give that as the most probable publication date. Previous owners name, army rank, address & date (1942) on front free endpaper. Some spotting to the page edges which has effected a few text pages but not heavily. Red cloth with black ruling and lettering. Original dustwrapper with new reduced price sticker applied just above the printed price (2/6) on the spine. Colour illustration on front panel, designed by "B W". Rear panel has publishers list of new titles. A couple of closed tears and chips to rear panel. Spine very slightly chipped and front panel with just minimal rubbing to edges. Overall a very good book in a very good example of this scarce dustwrapper.

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows…) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions… Read More
