Wien (Vienna), 1819. Remarkable, and uncommon complete 8 map folio set pertaining to the Napoleonic campaigns in Germany and Switzerland in 1799 (Second Coalition was formed in 1798, and included Russia, Great Britain, Austria, the kingdom of Naples, and the Ottoman Empire). The 8, loose (as issued) folding sheets are mostly b&w engravings, with some color coding for troop positions and German text of other details on some plates. They are carefully excecuted, all near fine or better on thick laid paper, with exceptional topographical detail. Each images measures approximately 17x22.5 inches (43x57cm). The date is taken from online KVK listings, but is not on the folio. There are roughly 4 copies listed online at that site, including the British Library. This is complete, both in terms of online collations of maps, and the original boards (17x11.5 inches) with the original pasted plate list and title. The string ties are only stubs, and the hinges are separating, but the maps were never bound in, and are loose as indicated. There is a Bloomfield bookplate insde the rear cover. The individual map sheets are: Allgemeine Ubersichtskarte, Gefecht bei Feldkirch, Gefecht bei Taufers, Treffen bei Osterach, Schlacht bei Stockach, Erste Schlacht bei Zurich, Angriff auf Mannheim, Zweite Schlacht be Zurich. Each map has a custom oblong rectangular label pasted verso. This is quite an impressive set military maps of these particular Napoleonic campaigns..
