Faint age toning on very outer edges. Spine has deeper coloring but with no wear. The boards are in remarkable condition with no bumps, top and bottom of spine is like new. Binding is straight and tight. No dust jacket. End papers are strong and tanned. No marks inside or out. Pages are clean, bright, unmarked, uncreased. Edges have a few spots of foxing and a thumbing smudge on bottom edge.

London: J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd, 1915. Bound in the publishers olive green cloth boards with elaborate black title lettering and decoration blind stamped to the front board. Gilt and black titles to the spine. The 280 pages are in very good condition with no inscriptions and are squarely bound. Light fading to spine as is usual with this title otherwise the cloth binding in very presentable condition. Pages are dyed grey to top edges. There is the misspelling " litttle " to line 11 of page 213 which is the sign of the First Edition. The photograph supplied is a picture of the book and we are happy to send more images on request. An attractive example of this classic Conrad book.. First Edition. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. FIRST EDITION.

St. Ives: Being The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897) is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. Unable to write, Stevenson dictated thirty chapters of the novel to his stepdaughter as a diversion from his debilitating illness. He alternated dictating St. Ives and The Weir of Hermiston but gradually lost interest in the former. The plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Capitaine Jacques St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier, after his capture by the British. Condition: Corners bumped and rubbed, shelf wear, hinges and spine heal moderately rubbed, previous owner's name on front end paper else a very good copy.
