First edition. Chez Cuchet, Libraire, rue & hotel Serpente. Paris. 1788. 8vo. vi, 525, (2) pp. Folding table. Quarter morocco, marbled boards, raised bands to spine, gilt motifs and lettering in six compartments. Light shelf wear. Some occasional foxing/spotting. Paper fault to lower margin of 175/6, not affecting text. A crisp and handsome copy. First and only edition of this important book by Dolomieu (1750-1801) who gave his name to the Dolomites. The outline maps were not bound into this copy and are loosely inserted in facsimile.
