In addition to serving as a chaplain overseas in World War II, Rabbi Seligson, served Central Synagogue in New York City as assistant rabbi, then chief rabbi for 20 years and later as rabbi emeritus. He was also the host of the Message of Israel radio program. The New York Times wrote in his obituary: "Rabbi Seligson was among the first Jewish chaplains to volunteer to serve overseas during World War II.
