HUMAN ACTION - A Treatise on Economics in four volumes

HUMAN ACTION - A Treatise on Economics in four volumes

By von Mises, Ludwig (foreword by Bettina Bien Greaves)

Indianapolis, Indiana: Liberty Fund, 2007. (xix) 1037 pp. in four volumes. Four trade paperbacks presented in a slipcase. Very light signs of use on the slipcase and the books; all with flat, uncreased spine; no interior markings. Please note, these are very heavy and, depending where in the world you are, the shipping may be somewhat more than normal. Ludwig von Mises was the leading exponent of the Austrian School of economics throughout most of the twentieth century. He has long been regarded as a most knowledgeable and respected economist. In Human Action, he explains complex market phenomena as "the outcomes of countless conscious, purposive actions, choices, and preferences of individuals, each of whom was trying as best as he or she could under the circumstances to attain various wants and ends to avoid undesired consequences." These individual choices are the ultimate regulators of the market, determining supply and demand, prices, and, in the end, profit and loss. Although governments can attempt to set prices, individual actions will have the final say through competitive bids for money and products and services. Thus, Mises presents economics as part of a larger science of human action. To be clear, all four volumes of Human Action are present in the slipcase and they appear to be unread.. Later Printing. Paperback. Near Fine. 8vo.
