Boston: Allied Printing Trade Council (12), [1917]. First edition. Folded. 8vo. pp. [4]. Very Good. Overall toning, small spot of stain on rear. "The recipes are in (USDA) Farmer's Bulletin 565, Corn Meal as a Food and Ways of Using it". Corn bread, An Old Southern Recipe: Spoon Bread, Corn-meal mush, Indian Pudding, Tamale pie. Slogans include "Corn Saved our Pioneers" and "Corn Meal -- Our Ally!" Appointed by Gov. Samuel W. McCall during WWI, multimillionaire Endicott was a dollar-a-year-man, taking only $1/year salary. He dug up part of the lawn of his Dedham, MA Estate to plant and support Victory Gardens. The USFA was created by an Act of Congress on August 10, 1917 during WWI; USDA created by Lincoln in 1862 by an Act of Congress. Scarce copy of an early USFA leaflet; Numbers 1-10 issued in 1917..
