"With an introduction, translation, commentary and notes". Illustrated with many (30-40) small, black and white inset reproductions. The original Latin texts are present also. Two appendices, a 5 page bibliograph y and 30 pages of notes. The library markings are a faint label ghost on the lower spine, stamps on the title page and attachments on the back end papers. Previous owner's name on the front free end paper. The externals show mild wear, otherwise 'tis clean with a tight binding. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. .

Printed on a very nice cream coloured laid paper. The paste down end papers are tanned in the gutters, otherwise very clean and showing only mild wear'rubbing to the spine tips and board corners. .

Green moire cloth on cover with gilt lettering on the front board. Very slight wear on corners, back board has white smudge (1/2") on top left corner. Author's photograph is signed "Your friend, Jean Du Puy". Copyrighted in May, 1926 by Mollie J. Whitehurst. Two black and white full page engravings as illustrations. A very clean copy of a unique collection of Catholic poetry. "Legend of the Skeleton . . ." - Unpaginated with 18 pages. Black cloth with gilt lettering and decorations on front board. Boards are smudged with white marks, spine is a bit worn, corners are bumped, back bottom left is creased from being bent. Author's signature on page 1, dated Sept. 14, 1930. Illustrated with 3 engravings. Included in this copy are 5 pieces of paper with hand written poems on them. They are done in the style of Du Puy but are not signed or dated. Four seem more recent, one is done on older paper in fountain pen. "Temptations of Eden" - Unpaginated with 28 pages. Green moire cloth on boards with gilt lettering on front board. Very slight wear on corners.. Author's photograph is signed 'With best wishes, from Jean Du Puy'. Loosely laid in are 3 pages of poems, 2 are typed, 1 is hand written. Origin is unknown, they came with the book. All three are included. It is known that DuPuy wrote one other book of poetry entitled "Temptation" (1923) and that she was born in 1872. ; Privately Printed; Signed by Signed by Author .

The introduction consists of the fiollowing: I - "The Manuscript and the Editions", II - "Source of Andreas", III - "Source of the Fates of the Apostles", IV - "Authorship of Andreas and The Fates of the Apostles", V - "Poetic Elaboration in Andreas", VI - "The Legend of St. Andrew", VII - a 6 page bibliography and 3 page table of abbreviations. The text of Andreas follows from page 1 through to page 65, then "The Fates of the Apostles from page 69 to 73 replete with footnotes followed by 96 pages of further notes and then a 66 page glossary for both works. The library markings, none of which are external, are a stamp on the front free end paper and a stamp and unused pocket on the back paste down end paper. The externals show only mild shelf wear and that mostly to the spine tips and the green cloth on the spine is a tad faded. The interior is otherwise clean and the binding is tight. All-in-all, the book appears to have been used very little if at all. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted.; Ex-Library .
