Special Suite of 28 Photos from New Hampshire circa 1920 Photos printed on white cream photo paper creating a 0.5-inch plate mark around photo and 1.25-inch border. Mounted on black album paper measuring 9.75 x 12.75 inches. Photo paper measures 7.5 x 9.5 inches and photos measure 5.5 x 7.5 inches. Each page has tissue guard glued to black leaf. In most cases the tissue is wrinkled and/or torn and in several instances was adhered to the photo in minute spots. One photo is smaller. Unbound. Very Good Condition. This collection arrived with a group of perhaps 800 vernacular photo albums--mostly early 20th century snapshots of family trips. These are of a quality totally on their own. Professionally printed and I surmise professionally shot by a Northeastern photographer. Photos are mostly views of New Hampshire. The photographer, A.E.H. signed maybe a half dozen of the 28 images. Red boards with gilt title on spine. Light bumping to corners and slight wrinkle on cloth on spine. Top edge trimmed; fore and bottom edge deckle. Front board has very light crack at spine. Tight binding and clean interior. Very good condition. Cardon's journal documents the early fur trading in the upper Missouri and a view of the Mandan settlements in North Dakota prior to the devastating smallpox epidemic of 1837. Howes C-303.

No blank endpapers either front or rear so possibly it is complete. Several pencil marks near class photos. Good condition. The Blue and Gold was published 8 times a school year by the students of Aberdeen High School, in Aberdeen South Dakota. Filled with great ads and typical yearbook photos.

Two 1877 United States Internal Revenue Service Special Tax Stamp Forms signed by Colonel Francisco Abreu, Anton Chico, New Mexico, February 27, 1877, 8.25 x 7, 1 pp. Each. Two paper documents with manuscript and type; both toned; some separation at previous folds; edges moderately foxed; good condition. Both documents are from the United States Internal Revenue Service, titled "Stamp for Specialty Tax". one form acknowledges receipt of payment of a special tax on the business of Dealer in Manufactured Tobacco; the other on the Business of Retail Liquor Dealer. Both signed by Francisco P. Abreu and dated February 27, 1877. Francisco Abreu (1831-1879) was a colonel in the 1st New Mexico Volunteer Infantry in the Union Army during the Civil War. Interior is mostly clean with numerous dog-eared pages. Slight musty odor. Uncommon collection of Temperance Songs edited by W.H. Adams for the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Pennsylvania. Many of the song are copyrighted by Adams. Many copyrights are 1912. 40 songs are published, all with lyrics and most with music.

Bookplate and business card of Agustín Arrojo Muñoz on thin, flexible sheets of cork; no edge wear or markings; both in fine condition. Also includes a paper version of the business card, which is slightly toned but otherwise fine; and a typed bifolio notecard stamped with the date 4 May, 1946; interior of letter is slightly stained from cork items, else fine. The typed notecard bears an Ex-Libris logo, Muñoz' name, and the word "Exchange" in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, French, English, German, Hungarian, Esperanto, and Slovak. The verso of the interior, translated to English, reads: "Dear sir, I enclose 11 bookplates. Initialed by the author who was also the publisher on limitation page. Mylar wrapper. Collection of slightly altered essays which originally appeared in "The Fishing Gazette", along with 16 very pleasing illustrations. Even though the author calls himself the Amateur Angler, not all the essays are about fishing but also about the birds and mammals he encounters on his Sunshine Holyday.

[Wells Fargo] 31 Year Run of Presidential/Executive Circulars for the American Railway Express Company/Railway Express Agency 1918-1949 Circulars stored in a rather worn and soiled 4-ring binder stamped in black on front, "American Railway Express Co." Binder holds likely several hundred unique circulars with most exhibiting wear to the edges. Some pages very toned. Light soiling. Good Condition. What first I assumed to be a very boring binder full of bureaucratic circulars from the president's office of the American Railway Express Company turns out to be in reality, a good lesson in history of the evolution of the movement of freight in the United States. And a valuable file record of the inner-workings of the American Railway Express Company. Up until July of 1918, there existed 7 parcel freight companies in the United States including the well-known firms of Adams Express Company, Southern Express Company, American Express Company, and Wells Fargo. A couple issues have small tears to edge otherwise very good condition. Small collection of an uncommon house organ for the Amarillo Laundry in Amarillo, Texas owned by Bob Ames. These small 'newspapers' were used as bundle inserts at Ames' laundry and served as a way not only to advertise their laundry services but act as any company newsletter would to establish a closer relationship with customers. Unbeknownst to this cataloger, 'laundry rags' or 'house organs' were common in the 1920's and 30's. The little critters also enjoyed snacks along the edges of the book and especially the lower corner of the last few pages; no loss of content. Fair to good condition. Cold Springs Camp was located in Austinburg, Ohio, along the banks of the Grand River. The Journal News of Hamilton, Ohio described the camp, in 1931, as an exclusive camp for girls from Cleveland and sponsored by the Women's League of Cleveland. This booklet presents as a yearbook for a summer at camp. A postcard postmarked 1931 is laid in. The book includes line drawings and descriptions of camp activities, poetry, field trip logs and reports from the three courts of camps, "Wendy", "Peter Pan" and "Tinker Bell". No edge wear or scratches on photos; all have a bit of a bend due to the way the box was stored, but this could easily be corrected by placing them under weight. Very good condition. Collection of original watercolor and pen and ink sketches of rural England from 1921. Bound in string tied photo album measuring 8 x 5 inches with six green blotter paper leaves and 22 thinner pale green leaves. Sketches are tipped in on recto only with white manuscript ink notations. Boards are rubbed, string binding intact. Some waving to the thinner leaves. Very Good. All sketches identified with locations in Brighton, Sussex, Bedfordshire, Essex, Kent and Herts. The front board also has an original ink sketch with title and subtitle plus design in black ink. Sadly, the artist did not sign their work, but it is from a hand of an accomplished artist with amazing detail and accurate perspective. Arbor Hill July 4th, 1917 Program, Albany, New York. 6 x 9 1/8 inches, 8pp. Staple-bound 8-page booklet with printed white wrappers with American flag in color on front. Wrappers are soiled. Interior leaves are newsprint. One leaf is not trimmed at fore edge. July 4th program for the "Field Day and Flag Raising at Daum's Park and Tivoli Lake, July 4, 1917 under the auspices of the Arbor Hill Improvement Association." This is the extent of the 'program' with the remaining pages devoted to ads from area businesses. A nice fragile surviving piece of Americana.

(On the Presentation by Mrs. Ogden of a Portrait of Her Late Husband, Painted by Geo. P. A. Healy.) Hon. Isaac N. Arnold, Fergus Printing Company, Chicago, 1881. 9.5 x 6.25 inches. 40pp. Pamphlet was at one time folded down the middle affecting both wraps and text block. Gray wraps have moderate soiling, minor chipping to front wrap, a 2 inch tear along the spine and a 1.75 inch tear on the rear wrap. Good condition. William Butler Ogden was one of Chicago's richest citizens and served as the city's first mayor from 1837-38. This copy is signed and inscribed by Ogden on the title page. There is also a tipped in amendment sheet (a few sentences long) on page 36 and a manuscript annotation on page 37.
