Index to Part II and pp141-144 originally published in smaller state (8vo), expertly relaid to quarto. Comprehensively cataloguing the origins, date of introduction and British gardens and their owners of foreign introductions during the golden age of plant-hunting, the Floral Register was the resource for all newly introduced plants.
Benjamin Maund (1790-1864) botanist and horticulturist, "he prospered as a bookseller, stationer, printer, bookbinder, publisher, and chemist in a combination normal for the time". Joseph Priestley (1733-1804) British Enlightenment polymath. Scientist, theologian, philosopher he was the first to identify oxygen and other core gases. He invented soda water. In 1794 he emigrated to Pennsylvania where was befriended by Thomas Jefferson as 'one of the few lives precious to mankind'. His achievements have only recently begun to be acknowledged. His metaphysical works influenced Jeremy Bentham, John Stuart Mill, and Herbert Spencer. Priestley saw matter as the manifestation of spiritual force.

Stapleton, Thomas (1806 – 1849), antiquary, FRS, was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries on 15 January 1839. His most important literary work was this edition of the rolls of the Norman exchequer, printed by the Society of Antiquaries as Magni rotuli scaccarii Normanniae sub regibus Angliae (2 vols., 1840 – 4), which 150 years later remains the authoritative edition of these important twelfth-century records. Richard Tully was the British Consul at Tripoli from 1783 to 1793, and, according to the preface, these letters were written by his sister; and attributed to his sister-in-law in the second and third editions. The author's identity has always been a mystery: there is no record of a sister, nor of another female family member residing in Tripoli apart from Mr Tully's wife and two daughters. The final entry is dated April 30, 1795, Gibraltar. It reads: "Since you must have had my letters with the journal of Tripoli".
