Description:
New York: Macmillan, 1927. First American Edition. Octavo (22.5cm); dark blue cloth, ribbed, stamped in blind and gilt (on spine); 208pp. Spine sunned, gilt dulled; boards mildly soiled, rubbed and worn, with some material loss to leading corners and spine extremities. Binding shaken; ex libris on front pastedown; mild reading wear and spots of foxing intermittent throughout. Else Very Good or Better. Despite the unusual subject matter, this book by J.W. Dunne, an English soldier and engineer, was very popular and well-read in its time. It expounds upon precognition through dreams, and his theoretical explanation for this phenomenon involving properties of time and relativity. His theory, dubbed "Serialism", garnered interest from academic communities but was never accepted by mainstream science. Regardless, many authors (especially those of fantasy/speculative fiction) drew inspiration from Dunne's work and continue to do so today.

New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1971. First edition, paperback issue (there was a simultaneous, and notably scarce, issue in boards). Quarto. Pictorial card wrappers; 108pp. Mild external rubbing and wear, else a tight, straight copy, Very Good or better. Text clean, fresh and unmarked. Laid in are four early publications of the Maryland Citizens Coalition for Cable Communications, including Issue no. 2 of the Coalition's newsletter (May, 1973). Part manifesto, part how-to manual for would-be video activists and pirate broadcasters. A nicely preserved copy. Description:
Watertown, NY: Hungerford-Holbrook Company, 1905. First Edition. Octavo (19cm). Pictorial cloth boards, stamped in white on spine and front cover; 244pp; illus. Spine faded to pink (still easily legible); pictorial stamping gently rubbed in a few spots; still a tight, Very Good copy. 4 inserted plates (halftones) by Cassius M. Coolidge. An obscure bit of anti-pyrotechnical fiction by this prolific (if little-known) Antwerp, New York author, most of whose works appear to have been published by the tiny regional publishing firm of Hungerford & Holbrook. A contemporary reviewer (in The Advocate of Peace, a Quaker journal) praised the book for its "intense feeling on the subject [of pyrotechnics]" and observed of it that the story "...though in Miss Coolidge's usual vein, is, we think, a decided improvement over her former productions." Uncommon; no others in commerce (2014); 16 copies found in OCLC. SMITH C-749.
