Raised spine bands. Top edge of text block gilt. Marbled endpapers. Hinges are secure. Contains a portrait and three city scenes. One of the pages at an illustration was opened roughly, resulting to some tearing at the fore edge of the page. Text has toning to outer edges of pages. Johan van Oldenbarnevelt (1549-1619) was a Dutch statesman who was instrumental in the Dutch efforts at independence from Spain.
